The CAARI program is an 7 week program which consists of touring, community
service and a speakers forum.
CAARI 2009
begins in Tel Aviv with the four-week community service portion of the
program. In addition to volunteering in schools, hospitals and community
organizations 3 – 4 mornings a week, participants will also work in the JNF
forests, clearing brush, pruning and planting trees. Afternoons will be spent
touring archeological sites, museums, and historical sites, to understand the
heritage, customs and traditions of our people. We will meet the Yemenite
Community in Rosh Ha’Ayin, visit the Bialik Museum, home of Israel’s national
poet, and tour Meggido with the site's archeologist. We will meet with
journalists, community leaders, and celebrate Tel Aviv’s Centennial. During the
4-week period, we will spend three days in a lovely resort hotel located in the
foothills of the Golan to understand the issues of this region and visit
some of the sites in the area.
On
to Israel’s southern most city, Eilat, where the red mountains of Edom
meet the blue waters of the Red Sea. We will explore the area, visiting nature
reserves, hiking the foothills and touring Timna Park - one of the geological
wonders in Israel – and learning about life in the Arava. CAARI will continue
to the Dead Sea Region for some R&R and visit Masada and Ein Gedi
before our week in Jerusalem. One of our highlights will be
participating with an archeologist in sifting through debris from the Temple
Mount.
During the 7 week period we will meet with local
media, prominent business and political leaders to discuss issues and concerns
facing Israel today. CAARI’s Speakers Forum features prominent Israelis from the
media and behind the scenes that are influential in current events. For program

2009 Calendar.
